At Absolute Dental, we care for your smile with your broader wellbeing in mind. Alongside everyday dental care, we consider how sleep, breathing, nutrition and daily habits may relate to your oral health.
Whether you’re looking for a dentist in West Perth for a routine check-up, restoring your smile or discussing concerns about snoring, teeth grinding or your airway, we take the time to listen and explain your options. Our approach brings together preventive, restorative and cosmetic dentistry with an interest in dental sleep care and wellbeing.
Health funds, payment options and eligible dental schemes
HICAPS claims are available for eligible services. Government dental benefits apply to eligible DVA card holders and children under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. Rebates, coverage and payment-plan approval vary; fees and provider terms may apply.
What Does Holistic Mean Here?
At Absolute Dental, holistic means your dental care is planned with the rest of your health in view. Our dentists are general dentists, not a different kind of practitioner. What changes is how wide the conversation goes before anything is decided.
Your Mouth Is Part Of You
Your medicines, how you sleep and how you’ve been feeling all belong in your dental history, so that’s where we start.
Prevention Comes Into Every Visit
When something keeps going wrong, we look for the reason, such as snacking, a dry mouth or night-time grinding, as well as the repair.
Materials Are Your Choice Too
Before anything goes into a tooth, you’ll hear which materials suit it, what they’re made of and why we’d suggest one.
Alongside a check of your teeth and gums, we discuss these four topics and explain why they matter to your dental care.
01Breathing and sleep
“How have you been sleeping?”
Tell us about snoring or a dry mouth on waking. We also look for dental signs such as worn teeth. We can discuss what we find and suggest speaking with your GP about a sleep assessment.
02Food and daily care
“What does a usual day of eating look like?”
Sipping, snacking and sweet drinks change how often acid is at work on your teeth. We’ll look at your routine with you and find a few changes that fit your day. No lecture.
03Materials
“What would you like in your tooth?”
If a tooth needs repair, you’ll hear the options for that tooth: what each material is made of, how long it tends to last and what it costs. Then it’s your call.
04Old silver fillings
“Any worries about old fillings?”
If a silver (amalgam) filling has failed, or you’d like it replaced after hearing the pros and cons, we take it out with extra steps to limit vapour and particles. Intact ones can often stay where they are.
Everything else is the everyday dentistry you’d expect, from check-ups and cleans to repairs and urgent care.
Each of these has its own plain-language guide. Start with whichever one brought you here. None of them is a package, and you only have the care you agree to.
Worried about coming back after a long gap? Here’s the usual order of a first visit, so you can ask about each step beforehand.
01
We Ask About You
Your health history, medicines, sleep and eating habits, plus anything that worries you about dental visits or materials. Ask about breaks, a signal to pause or having each step explained before it starts.
02
We Take A Careful Look
Teeth, gums, bite and jaw, along with signs of grinding or a dry mouth. X-rays are taken when there’s a clinical reason.
03
We Explain What We Found
You hear what we found and what it means for you, in plain words. Ask as many questions as you like.
04
You Weigh Up The Options
Each option comes with its benefits, risks and cost. Sometimes waiting and watching is reasonable, and we’ll tell you when it is.
05
You Leave With A Plan
Your personalised treatment plan sets out the next steps and their costs. Take your time, talk it over with family or get a second opinion first.
What We Treat, And What We Don’t
A holistic approach doesn’t turn your dentist into your doctor. Here’s where the line between the two sits.
What We Look After
Tooth pain, decay and dental infection
Bleeding gums and gum disease
Broken teeth and failing fillings
Grinding, and signs of poor sleep or mouth-breathing that show in your mouth
What Stays With Your Doctor
Diagnosing sleep apnoea
Ongoing tiredness, low mood or immune problems
Any illness elsewhere in your body
Changes to medicines your doctor manages
Dental work isn’t a treatment for tiredness, immunity or mood, and we won’t suggest it is. If something sounds medical, we’ll say so and point you to your GP.

Yes. Our dentists are general dentists, and “holistic” describes how we plan care, not a separate qualification. The Dental Board of Australia lists 13 dental specialties, and holistic dentistry isn’t one of them, so the word is about the conversation, not a different licence.
The dentistry itself is the same as at any general practice: examinations, cleans, fillings, crowns and urgent care. What changes is how wide the first conversation goes. Your dentist also asks about your sleep and breathing, your food and daily care, and the materials you’d prefer, then plans with all of that in mind. If a question sounds medical rather than dental, we’ll say so and suggest your GP.
You can check any dentist yourself. Dentists must be registered with Ahpra to practise in Australia, Ahpra keeps a public register of practitioners, and where a registration number appears on our website you can look it up there. If a registration number isn’t shown for a dentist, ask our team to confirm it. We use “holistic” to describe an approach and we don’t claim a specialty. Ask what we would do and why, and what the alternatives are, before you decide.
We won’t promise that a dental change will cure tiredness, low mood, immune problems or an illness elsewhere in your body. A holistic approach doesn’t turn your dentist into your doctor, so if something sounds medical, we’ll say so and point you to your GP.
We won’t promise a particular result or date either, or a set health-fund gap, because they depend on your mouth and your insurer’s rules. And we don’t call any option risk-free. Instead, you hear what we found, each option with its benefits, risks and costs (including waiting), and what we’d suggest and why. That covers old silver fillings too: replacing sound ones hasn’t been shown to improve general health (ADA Policy 6.18, 2026).
Ahpra’s advertising rules ask practices to back health claims with acceptable evidence and to be clear about risk, and we write our pages with those rules in mind. So you won’t find a promise here that a treatment will cure something. Ask any question you like, take your time to decide, and feel free to get a second opinion from another qualified health practitioner. The section “What We Treat, And What We Don’t” shows where the line between dentist and doctor sits.
No. Coming back after a long gap is common, and the reasons are usually understandable. Your first visit is about where things stand now, not about the past. We’ll explain what we find and plan the next steps with you.
Here’s how a first visit usually runs. We ask about you: your health history, medicines, sleep and eating habits, and anything that worries you about dental visits. Then we take a careful look at your teeth, gums, bite and jaw, with X-rays only when there’s a clinical reason. You hear what we found in plain words, you weigh up the options with their benefits, risks and costs, and you leave with a plan.
You stay in control throughout. Ask for breaks, a signal to pause or each step explained before it starts, and tell us if low mood, ADHD, anxiety or money worries are part of why you’ve stayed away. Sometimes waiting and watching is reasonable, and we’ll say when it is. We can’t promise every moment will be comfortable, but we won’t judge you for the gap. Call (08) 9321 6398 or request a time online.
Not necessarily. A sound silver (amalgam) filling can often stay where it is, and replacing sound fillings hasn’t been shown to improve general health (ADA Policy 6.18, 2026). If one has failed, or you still prefer replacement, talk through the benefits, risks and alternatives with your dentist before deciding.
A filling is worth replacing when it has failed: it’s cracked, leaking, worn through or has decay underneath. It may also make sense if you have a confirmed allergy, or if you still want it replaced after hearing the pros and cons. Your dentist checks each filling with a close look and, when needed, an X-ray, and tells you which ones are sound.
If one does come out, we remove it with extra steps to limit vapour and particles, such as a rubber dam, strong suction and water spray. Those steps reduce exposure, but we can’t promise zero. Taking out a filling also removes some tooth, so ask how much. We won’t suggest replacement as a treatment for fatigue, mood or any illness. If you’re unsure, our Dental Second Opinion Offer is a $49 consultation, or $0 gap where an eligible health fund benefit is claimed and accepted as full payment.
A comprehensive examination, routine scale, clean and polish, fluoride treatment, oral cancer screening and a personalised treatment plan. Clinically required intraoral X-rays and photographs are included where appropriate.
$0 gap when eligible health fund benefits cover the included services, or a maximum of $199 out of pocket, including without health insurance.
The offer is for new patients of Absolute Dental, and it can’t be combined with other promotions unless stated. A $0 gap isn’t guaranteed: it depends on your insurer, your policy, your annual limits and the benefits you have left, so check your cover with your fund before you come. Examinations, X-rays and photographs are provided as clinically appropriate, at the dentist’s discretion.
If anything outside the offer is recommended, it is explained, with its cost, before you choose what to do next. A separate $295 New Patient Promo is listed on the patient offers page, and it has its own terms.
Advanced imaging (including OPG and CBCT), additional treatment and periodontal care beyond a routine clean are excluded. Additional costs are discussed before proceeding.
For new patients only. Cannot be combined with other offers unless stated.
You hear what’s recommended and what it would cost before anything goes ahead, and you can say no, take time to think, or ask for a second opinion. If you’re unsure whether something falls inside the offer, ask our team when you book.
HICAPS is available for eligible health fund claims. Your rebate depends on your policy, waiting periods, limits and remaining benefits; a no-gap appointment is not guaranteed.
HICAPS lets us send eligible claims on the spot, using your physical card or a supported digital one. The practice participates in HBF Members’ Plus and the nib First Choice Network for eligible practitioners and services, so check your cover and participating dentist before booking. Medicare doesn’t cover most dental services (health.gov.au), so don’t assume it will contribute.
Payment plans may be available subject to eligibility, approval, fees and provider terms: Afterpay, humm, National Dental Plan and Zip. The provider, not the practice, decides whether you’re approved, and fees and repayments are set by that provider. If you’re weighing up paying at the start against a plan, ask for the total cost both ways. Ask which options apply to your appointment before you book.
Call (08) 9321 6398 or request an appointment online. Find us at 1/34 Outram St, West Perth WA 6000, Monday–Friday 8:00am–8:00pm, by appointment only. $0 gap when eligible health fund benefits cover the included services, or a maximum of $199 out of pocket, including without health insurance. Please read the inclusions and terms before booking.
